On 21th of October in Tallinn the cornerstone was put for a Tehnopol’s Mechatronics Centre. The construction cost of the building is estimated to be 7 million. Building of Mechatronics combines office and laboratory space for world-class aerospace, plane- and other high-tech production lines and prototyping.
Mechatronics laboratory equipment costs 2 million euros and will create the conditions for high-tech enterprises to create prototypes and low range production. About 50% space of the ovarall 9000 square meters in the Center of Mechatronics is already booked. In addition to the laboratories, there are also office spaces, for cooperating companies in the mechatronics field. Anchor tenants will be Mechatronics Innovation Centre IMECC OÜ and Metrosert that is building and calibrating measuring instruments.
Mechatronics Centre devices are capable for operating independently for 24/7, which will be a big challenge for Estonian software development industry and universities.
YIT Group and Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol have created a joint venture for building Mechatronics Centre. The center was designed by architect office Luhse and Tuhal. The construction company is YIT Ehitus. Office- and laboratory building for electronics and engineering oriented companies will be completed by September in 2012. In addition to Mechatronics Centre, in 2012 summer another building for science based businesses will be completed in Tehnopol.
